Rebecca on 3 wheeler

My name is Wanda Bernard and we have a daughter name Rebecca who is 9 years old and she was born with Cerebral Palsy. Rebecca is primarily confined to a wheelchair however we are very happy that she is able to utilize a walker, stander and 3 wheel bike which gives her a different perspective on life.

We recently renovated our entire home to accommodate Rebecca and her little hot pink power wheelchair. We installed a multi-lift elevator system to give Rebecca access to our home and 3 other floors. When the elevator was installed we choose not to install automatic door openers as we were hoping she would be able to maneuver herself in and out of the elevator without any issues. Once the elevator was fully functional we quickly realized the need for the automatic door openers as we were becoming her automatic door openers. Hence the search was on for the door openers. Each door had different restrictions so it was quickly becoming apparent to us it wasn't going to be easy to find a reasonably price unit that would work in each location.

Finally we were able to get our hands on one Stanley Access Pro and we installed it on our top floor which leads directly into Rebecca's bedroom. The unit fit perfectly and we started using it immediately. Rebecca thought it was the coolest thing to be able to open her door and go in and out without having to struggle with opening and closing the door manually. We attached the little remote unit to her wheelchair and she opens and closes her door with ease. She must have opened and closed her door 50 times the first day.

I am happy to say that we have been using the Stanley Access Pro unit since February and it has been a very reliable unit with absolutely no issues. We were happy the unit had different settings as we had set the unit to only open and close with the remote control. If we set it to close automatically she will always get hit by the door as Rebecca never enters or exits the elevator the same way and backing in is very difficult as she is unable to turn her head completely to see where she is therefore it takes her a lot longer then the automatic close setting would allow. She also doesn't have to worry about rushing because she knows the door won't close on her.

The other things we like about the unit is how quiet and small it is and how unobtrusive it is on the door. Not like the big ugly industrial looking units. It is a very home friendly looking unit. We look forward to installing more of the Access Pro units to give Rebecca full independent access to her home.

Thank you for offering such a good product.
