STANLEY Healthcare Announces Integration of its AeroScout® Patient Flow Solution to EMR System

Integration enables real-time patient location updates in the EMR and automated management of patient flow milestones

WALTHAM, Mass., September 15, 2014— STANLEY Healthcare, a market leading provider of visibility solutions and analytics for the healthcare industry, today announced the availability of an integration between its MobileView® software for the AeroScout® Patient Flow solution and Epic's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software.

The integration enables hospitals to streamline and automate key aspects of patient flow for improved patient experience and operational efficiency in ambulatory clinics, emergency departments, operating rooms and inpatient settings. By sending real-time patient location updates to the EMR, hospitals can automate processes and milestones, including:

  • Automated transfers based on patient location changes;
  • Automatic physician assignment in the emergency department; and
  • Automatic notification to Environmental Services when a bed requires turnover.

The integration is a bi-directional interface using the HL7 standard for exchange of clinical and demographic data between hospital information systems. Patient information can be automatically transferred to the MobileView software from the ADT, thus eliminating duplicate manual data entry and reducing likelihood of errors.

The AeroScout Patient Flow solution gives hospitals real-time visibility into the location and status of staff, patients, rooms and equipment, combined with visual data analytics to understand and optimize performance. Patients are assigned a small Wi-Fi badge at admission. Staff members wear a Wi-Fi badge while on duty. As patients and staff move about the hospital or clinic, their location and interactions are automatically updated and displayed within the MobileView software and sent to the EMR system.

The solution includes business intelligence using MobileView Analytics, which transforms complex data into visual information, so hospitals can understand and improve their workflows. Clinical dashboards show current status relative to benchmarks such as current patient wait times and current patient cycle times by care team. MobileView Analytics enables detailed analysis of long term trends in patient experience which can impact HCAHPS scores.
