WesleyLife Deploys Arial® 9 Emergency Call Solution at The Village in Indianola, Iowa
New reporting, notification and integration options enable higher efficiency and improved resident safety and security
WALTHAM, Mass., Oct. 6, 2014— STANLEY Healthcare, a market leading provider of visibility solutions and analytics for the healthcare industry, today announced that its Arial 9 Wireless Emergency Call solution has been deployed by The Village, a WesleyLife community, located in Indianola, Iowa. The Village is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and is home to more than 200 residents.
The Village is using the Arial solution to increase safety and security throughout its 37-acre campus. The solution provides emergency call to residents in all areas of the community, including independent living townhomes and apartments, The Oaks Assisted Living wing and the Health Center for skilled nursing. Residents have access to both portable pendants to call for help from any location, and fixed call stations found within apartments and throughout the community. In addition, The Village is taking advantage of Arial's ability to integrate STANLEY Healthcare's wander management technology to help protect residents in the Health Center who may be at risk of an unescorted exit. These residents wear a small and discreet wrist tag and exits are monitored to detect egress.
The Village installed an earlier version of the Arial solution in 2013. After a review of the added benefits of Arial 9, The Village in partnership with sponsor WesleyLife opted to upgrade to the latest software for the Arial solution. "We identified several features of Arial 9 that we believed would improve our ability to serve our residents promptly and efficiently," says Chad Piper, Executive Director, The Village . "The new reports engine attracted us for its ability to automatically generate reports and send them to email, eliminating manual steps. In addition, we now have more options to handle alerts and call escalation; the leadership team can receive alerts via email and text message, giving us access to the tools from any location."
The transition to Arial 9 has come with minimal requirements to retrain staff, according to Robyn Witte, Director of Nursing of The Village. "The transition to Arial 9 did not require a major training program. The changes for the staff have been minimal, and the transition has been smooth." Team members receive emergency call and wander alerts via pagers, consolidating all alerts into a single device. The Village is also planning to integrate its fire panel system into Arial 9 so that staff can be quickly informed of the location of a fire alarm.
Arial 9 represents the next evolution of emergency call, giving senior living communities a single solution for multiple resident safety and security applications. In addition to offering wireless Nurse Call functionality from fixed call points and Emergency Call via portable pendants, the Arial 9 solution incorporates the following key functionality:
- Built-in wander management capability, leveraging STANLEY Healthcare's proven RoamAlert® wander management technology;
- Integration of existing nurse call solutions, including wireless portable devices and hard-wired call points;
- Consolidated event management, with secondary reporting of alarms from fire panels and other safety and security systems;
- Advanced reports engine for tracking response times, compliance reporting & resident planning, with scheduled reports and automatic forwarding to e-mail;
- Event notification to mobile devices, IP phones, signs and pagers.
"We are very pleased that WesleyLife has chosen STANLEY Healthcare to help ensure the safety of residents of The Village," said Gene Borys, Vice President of Sales, Senior Living for STANLEY Healthcare. "Our goal is to work with leading organizations like WesleyLife to develop innovative solutions that empower providers to deliver person-centered care, measure and improve their performance and operate more efficiently. We look forward to the continued partnership with WesleyLife."
The Arial 9 solution will be showcased at booth 643 at the AHCA/NCAL Convention & Expo, October 6-7 in National Harbor, MD, and at booth 1402 at the LeadingAge Annual Meeting, October 20-22 in Nashville, TN. Attendees will be able to see live demonstrations of Arial 9, along with STANLEY Healthcare's other market leading solutions for wander management, fall management, patient safety monitoring and access control.
