NOW READING: McKnight’s Tech Awards 2018: What We Hope to See

STANLEY Healthcare is proud to be the Platinum Sponsor for the 2018 McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards. We chose to be a sponsor because we are passionate about empowering caregivers, and believe that technology has a critical role to play in the continuous improvement of the resident experience.

We’re impatient to see the results of this year’s awards. Here are some of the ways we hope to be inspired:

  • Technology born in senior living organizations: Some of the best technology ideas come from senior living organizations themselves. A brilliant example of this is the groundbreaking health and  fall monitoring solution, which originated at TigerPlace, a retirement community co-founded by The Sinclair School of Nursing at the University of Missouri - Columbia.
  • Technology for personalized care: Every resident is unique, with unique needs. Technology can help communities deliver unique care. Check out this example from award winner Dunwoody Village in Newtown Square, PA, which applied predictive analytics to help residents with toileting routines.
  • Technology empowering caregivers: Enabling care staff translates directly into better care and outcomes for residents, as this excellent story on the 2017 winner in the Quality category shows. Illuminate HC set itself the goal of responding to nurse call lights within 30 seconds, but the insights gained led to a proactive rounding approach that reduced calls by 50% because residents’ needs were being anticipated.
  • Technology that enables mission: Ultimately technology is a tool for senior living communities to fulfil their mission. This short video on Heritage Senior Living’s Portraits program for those with dementia shows how technology can support a particular vision for resident care.
