Woodley Extra Care Scheme is First in Europe to install Next Generation Elopement Management Solution

When planning Fosters, the aim was to offer great homes for older people within a safe and specially designed wider scheme. Customers will benefit from high quality and specially designed apartments offering double bedrooms, wet room bathrooms, a spacious kitchen/living room and either a private balcony or terrace area, combined with two communal living areas, landscaped gardens, a café offering freshly cooked food and guest suite accommodation. Background support from Optalis means that customers have access to as much or as little care as needed from Optalis, who maintain a 24 hour on-site presence as well as delivering tailor-made care packages.

Keeping customers safe as well as comfortable was a key commitment for Fosters and with over 850,000 people now living with Dementia in the UK, enabling safer walking was a great consideration. The commissioners were keen that any system installed offer residents the ability and capacity to move throughout the service, coming and going as they please, whilst those requiring extra safety are discreetly protected.

Following extensive research, Loddon Homes and care provider Optalis chose STANLEY Healthcare who for more than 30 years has been a global innovative leader in affordable and effective solutions. From Optalis registered manager Manuel Vieira says “It was vital that our customers, each of whom have unique needs are provided with the highest quality care and support which is focused on enhancing their quality of life. This kind of technology will assist in maintaining their independence whilst ensuring their safety which is paramount. Designed and manufactured by STANLEY Healthcare, WanderGuard BLUE is the latest safer walking solution, “Loddon Homes were looking for a solution to support effective monitoring and protection of at risk residents“ says Martin Niblett, STANLEY’s UK Regional Sales Manager “WanderGuard BLUE moves to a new level of elegance and simplicity. With only a small number of sleek and elegant components, the solution blends seamlessly into Fosters infrastructure. What will stand out to residents and families is freedom of movement and peace of mind – not the equipment that makes it all possible”.

The install was carried out by STANLEY partner Turun UK, with Managing Director Pedro Pereira saying “Turun UK are pleased to been involved in the first installation of this new patient elopement system. Designed to encourage resident mobility in a safe and caring environment, staff and carers will be assured that their residents are not only protected with the latest technology but the biggest change in WanderGuard for over 20 years”.
